Spotlight on Alliance Agri-Turf: Supporting Farmers & Sustainable Food
Our friends at Alliance Agri-Turf were generous sponsors of our recent member appreciation event. I wanted to get to know them a bit more (as I am still very new to this industry). I sent them a few questions which they answered and provided some great insight into who they are. Enjoy!
Alliance Agri-Turf is at the forefront of agricultural innovation. Can you tell us about some of the exciting new technologies and practices you're developing to help farmers increase yields while minimizing their environmental impact?
Agriculture needs to be adaptive to keep up with the ever-changing stresses, constraints, and demands of the market, consumers, and crops themselves. Therefore, at Alliance Agri-Turf we work closely with growers to keep an eye on the crop needs. Ensuring that crop plans include best practices and manage expectations, giving each grower solutions to meet their farm operation needs. We encourage growers to soil sample regularly, especially grid sampling as we have the ability to create variable rate prescriptions for seed and fertilizer application. This ensures the right product is applied, at the right rate, in the right place.
Collaboration is key to addressing the challenges facing our food system. How does Alliance Agri-Turf work with farmers, researchers, and other stakeholders to develop and implement sustainable agricultural solutions?
At Alliance Agri-Turf we have a team of well-educated and passionate staff. Many of our team members are Certified Crop Advisors (CCAs), some of which also have earned their 4R Nutrient Management Certification. These certifications keep staff up to date with education opportunities and encourage further development. We also work closely with our suppliers to ensure that we have a good understanding of product use, efficiency, and best practices. Working with our growers is also a great asset to learn more about solutions at the farm level, with each farm operations being unique there is much to learn and apply to other operations.
Many Canadians are concerned about the future of our food supply. How is Alliance Agri-Turf helping to ensure a secure and sustainable food future for Canada and beyond?
Within Alliance Agri-Turf we are driven by the forever changing needs of our customers and consumers. By ensuring that we keep best practices in mind, adopt new technologies, and keep the bottom line in mind we can ensure that our growers are able to access the most recent products and options for their operation. We take pride in the agricultural community and are happy to be a part of the community. Enhancing and encouraging the agricultural community is also very important to us. Therefore, we work closely with local associations such as Soil & Crop Associations, various livestock producer associations, local youth organizations (4-H, Junior Farmers), and various fruit and vegetable associations. The quality of people within these associations is extensive, ensuring for a strong future for agriculture locally and Canada-wide.
Thank you, Alliance Agri-Turf, for your sponsorship of our recent event and for the way you care for farmers and growers in Ontario and in Canada! We look forward to future conversations and opportunities to partner with you.
